Today I focused on creating Instagram content for the Shorebirds. I designed multiple posts using Canva, starting with a “soft launch” style post to build anticipation for Opening Day. The goal of this post was to generate excitement in a subtle and engaging way leading up to the season.
I also created a second post that combined the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana with the Shorebirds’ 30th season using a “best of both worlds” theme. This post was designed to connect a popular cultural reference with the team’s milestone season in a fun and creative way. My director really liked this idea and ended up posting it on the Shorebirds’ Instagram account.
Reflection:
Today allowed me to be creative while also thinking strategically about social media content. I learned how to incorporate trends and pop culture into sports marketing to make posts more engaging. Seeing one of my designs get posted was rewarding and showed me that creative risks can pay off.

Today, another intern and I worked together to prepare promotional materials for the Shorebirds. We spent about two hours stapling and organizing flyers and tickets that were going to be distributed. This required us to stay organized and efficient to ensure everything was prepared correctly.
After completing that task, we were assigned to hang up promotional flyers in all of the stadium bathrooms, both men’s and women’s. We went through each area to make sure the flyers were placed neatly and were visible to fans.
Reflection:
This experience showed me the importance of teamwork and organization when preparing materials for promotions. Even though the tasks were simple, they are essential for spreading awareness and enhancing the fan experience. It also gave me a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into game day preparation.

Today, I started in the press box working on one of the computers to prepare in-game content. I was given the rosters for both the Shorebirds and the Augusta GreenJackets, and my task was to input each player’s hometown into the system so it would display on the big screen during the game. After completing this, my director had me double-check everything to make sure the information was accurate and functioning properly.
For my final task, I walked around the stadium taking photos of different areas and moments to be used for an Opening Day Instagram post. I focused on capturing a variety of shots that could help showcase the atmosphere and excitement of the day.
Reflection:
This experience helped me understand the importance of accuracy when preparing content for live game use. Even small details like player information need to be correct since they are shown to fans in real time. Taking photos around the stadium also allowed me to think creatively about how to capture the Opening Day experience for social media.

Today, I had the opportunity to help prepare for College Night at the Shorebirds game by working in the press box with my director. We focused on getting everything ready for the game by setting up the scoreboard, checking the buttons on the computers, and making sure all of the systems were running smoothly. This preparation was important to ensure that everything would function properly during the game.
After that, my director had me observe the behind-the-scenes work of the Shorebirds broadcaster. I watched as they reviewed and worked on the Shore Report and the game-day report from the previous night, which gave me insight into how game coverage is put together.
Reflection:
Today gave me a better understanding of the preparation that goes into game day operations. Working in the press box showed me how important it is to ensure all systems are functioning before the game starts. Watching the broadcaster also gave me insight into the media side of sports and how content is created and reviewed behind the scenes.

Today, I started by creating an Instagram graphic on Canva that said “The Boys Are Back In Town,” highlighting that the Shorebirds players were back and ready to play. The goal of the post was to create excitement and energy around the team’s return.
After completing the graphic, another intern and I helped my director with several tasks around the stadium. We replaced the promotional flyers in all of the bathrooms with updated ones to keep the messaging current. We also walked around the stadium taking photos of different areas that could be used for future Shorebirds Instagram posts.
Reflection:
This experience allowed me to combine creative work with hands-on tasks around the stadium. Creating the Instagram graphic helped me practice designing content that builds excitement for fans, while the other tasks showed me the importance of keeping promotional materials updated. Taking photos also gave me more experience capturing content that could be used for social media.

Today, I spent the day organizing the files for the Play Ball booklet. My main task was to sort through the new files, download them as JPG images, and then insert them into the old version of the Play Ball booklet. This required organization and attention to detail to make sure each file was placed correctly and in the proper order.
Reflection:
This experience helped me improve my organizational skills and attention to detail while working with digital files. It showed me how important it is to keep materials organized and updated so final projects can be completed efficiently and accurately.

Today, I spent my whole shift preparing Shorebirds promotional materials. I was given many large stacks of Shorebirds ticket vouchers that I had to staple onto shorebirds flyers. The green tickets is displayed on top of a flyer that includes a QR code and instructions, for redeeming or claiming tickets online. This is related to fan promotion, and my job was to get it all stapled and ready to be sent out.
Reflection:
Today showed me how much preparation goes into promotions and ticket distribution behind the scenes. Even simple tasks like organizing materials are important because they help events run smoothly and ensure fans receive the correct information. It also helped me improve my organization skills and ability to work efficiently on repetitive tasks.

During my final day at the Shorebirds, I finished preparing the remaining promotional ticket packets by completing the stapling and organizing process. I made sure all of the materials were assembled correctly and ready for distribution. After we completed the work for the day, my director took me out to Panera to celebrate my last day of the internship and thank me for my work throughout the semester.
Reflection:
My final day gave me a chance to finish strong by completing the last of the promotional materials. It was rewarding to look back on everything I contributed during the internship. Going out with my director afterward made me feel appreciated and showed that the relationships built during an internship can be just as valuable as the work experience itself.
